Made in the small town of Sant’Elena Sannita, a few hours east of Rome, Stappi White Bitter claims a long history. Though the brand dates only to the 1980s, its parent company Di Lorio dates back nearly a century earlier, to 1896. A proprietary infusion of bitter herbs in pure mineral water, White Bitter is bracing and refreshing, its pronounced bitterness tempered by a kiss of fragrant citrus. We love using Stappi as a spritz base: simply pour over ice, add splashes of sparkling wine and soda water, and garnish with an orange or lemon twist for pure Mediterranean perfection.
