Dried Nori

A staple of Japanese cuisine since antiquity, nori - dried sheets of seaweed - is most commonly used to wrap sushi and onigiri. It's also a common topping for steaming bowls of ramen, and kids and adults throughout Japan snack on the seasoned version. This version is unseasoned and cut to the perfect size for making temaki, or hand-rolled sushi; cut in half or quartered it's the perfect accompaniment to soups and rice bowls, as its subtle oceanic flavor is full of umami.
