Fishwife founders Becca Millstein and Caroline Goldfarb—self-described "tinned fish evangelists"—work with small boat fisherfolk, sustainable aquaculture farms, and microcanneries on the Pacific Coast and in Idaho to produce delicious, ethically-sourced canned fish. For their Atlantic Salmon, they've partnered with Kvarøy Arctic, the first finfish farm to carry the Fair Trade USA seal, and BAP, ASC and Global G.A.P. certification. The fish are raised without antibiotics or chemicals by third-generation family farmers in the icy Arctic circle among deep ocean currents that keep the water fresh, and are fed a sustainable, nutrient-rich diet. Smoked and cured with a touch of brown sugar, the salmon is salty, fatty and a bit sweet, an indulgent tinned fish treat.
